- Short Biography
Charles M. Schweik is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Natural Resources Conservation and the Center for Public Policy and Administration at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA. He also is the Associate Director of the National Center for Digital Government at UMass Amherst (http://www.ncdg.org). He has a PhD in Public Policy from Indiana University (a former Workshop and CIPEC graduate student), a Masters in Public Administration from Syracuse University, and has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science. A primary research interest is in the use and management of public information technology. For more than six years, between his undergraduate degree and his MPA, he was a programmer with IBM.
Schweik is currently finishing up a book manuscript entitled 'Success and Abandonment in Open Source Commons' that includes empirical analysis of Sourceforge.net projects as well as a more detailed case study focusing on the institutional and community attributes of a nonprofit foundation and seven associated open source projects.
