Short Biography

Patrick is a post-doctoral research fellow at IBM TJ Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, NY where he studies socio-technical systems as a member of the governance science research team.  He received his Ph.D. in 2009 in Engineering and Public Policy and Computation, Organizations and Society from Carnegie Mellon University under Jim Herbsleb and Kathleen Carley.  In addition to computer science, he also holds degrees in computer engineering and electrical engineering.  Outside of his studies he has worked for several dot-com startups to create compelling integrated rewards experiences, a major communications manufacturer, and a national laboratory on super computing applications.  He is also active in the Open Source and Linux communities where he contributes to several Open Source projects, has presented at numerous academic and technical conferences, and has worked with several Linux users groups.  When he grows up he wants to be an astronaut.
