Short Biography

Ralph Morelli has a PhD in philosophy and a MS in computer science and has been teaching computer science since 1985. He is currently PI of the Humanitarian FOSS project (http://www.hfoss.org), an NSF-CPATH funded effort to revitalize undergraduate computing education by (1) getting students engaged in building free and open source software that benefits the community and by (2) exploring ways that FOSS can be better integrated into the undergraduate computing curriculum. During the past several years HFOSS students have made significant contributions to Sahana, OpenMRS, InSTEDD, GNOME, and other FOSS projects that benefit the public good.

Research Interests

Free and open source software, computer science education, historical cryptography, artificial intelligence.
